Question:
Has anyone gone as far as legal assistance for appeal?
I have been denied WLS and am in the process of sending them several appeals on my own. I am tring to get any of my docs' to write letters of necessity. If these things do not pan out I am thinking of using the law. Has anyone done this and approx how much did it cost and most importantly, DID IT WORK? — Peggy S. (posted on June 16, 2001)

Good luck with getting legal assistance. I'm from Upstate NY in
Yates county. There have been several times (6 or 7) over the years
I needed help with getting approvals for past surgeries. Not
one single time would ANYONE help me. We have legal assistance "in
name only". What it comes right down to is that no lawyer wants to
take any time to help here in Yates county. And they won't.
Hope it's better where you live.

I have not had experience with this, but I have heard others at support
groups talk about Walter Lindstrom. He has a website at www.obesitylaw.com
that you might want to check out.

I recently hired Obesity Law Institute (Dr.Payam Shayani)it cost me
$795.00.I had the worst experience with them and do not recommend them to
anyone. They do not contact you and you reach a point where you feel like
you are bothering them.It was such a waste of money and a huge
disappointment.
