Question:
Can I proceed with secondary insurance, and still appeal a denial from the primary ?

I have dual insurance coverage. Tricare standard is my secondary insurance, and my surgeon assures me that Tricare standard will cover my surgery. However, I will be stuck with 20% of the bill, and for major surgery, that's a lot. If my primary insurance company (Cigna) denies me, I intend to appeal. Can I go forth with the surgery and let Tricare standard cover, and then let them duke it out in the event that I can get the denial overturned?    — Peggy51 (posted on May 11, 1999)

i was approved by my secondary and denied by my primary....i was told that i would have to drop my primary for my secondary to cover...i appealed my primary and was approved..i am having surgery on may 18th
