Question:
I can't figure out, why am I having pain after 20 months post-op ????
Hi all, I'm 20 months out, an have had a smooth recovery and good wt loss. thus far. But just recently, after I eat. I have been having hard rolling pain shooting through my stomach. even water has activated it. two of those days had me moaning in pain. nothing usually bothers my stomach, but now all of a sudden I can't eat anything without feeling discomfort. It doesn't make me vomit. plus I have my gallbladder out. so I know this isn't the reason. any ideas what maybe happening. I will be seeing my doc real soon. Thanks — Naes Wls J. Are you having problems going to the bathroom? If anything sets the pain
off I would go to the Doctors...Can't play around with pain. Best of luck

My friend had her surgery in November of 2002.
One year later she was having the same problems with pain after eating.
She went back to the surgeon who told her she needed a revision.
The area where the intestine is reconnected developed a small hole. The
surgeon had found out about this problem at a seminar where he met another
surgeon who had been in this area of surgery practice longer.
He had told him that after a patient loses 100 or more pounds, the
connection is loosened and sometimes developes a hole.
I have had the surgery and have lost 100 pounds, but I have not had any
problem so far. He was my surgeon also.
It doesn't happen to everybody, but it was enough of a percentage for the
other surgeon to inform our surgeon.
Please call your surgeon's office and let them know as soon as possible
about the problem.

Hi...I developed internal hernias which caused quite a bit of pain. I had
to go back in January to have them repaired. As the previous poster
indicated, after a huge weight loss, these can develop where the intestines
were re-attached. My surgeon found two. Go see your doctor. It could be
the same thing or something else. As my surgeon told me "pain is not
an after effect...if you feel pain, you need to let me know!" Good
luck!

Sorry to hear you are having so much pain after this time. Does the pain
remind you of a gall bladder attack??? My mother had developed stones 5
years after her gall bladder was removed. She had to have the stones
removed. Just another avenue to check into. Good Luck,
