Question:
Swelling? How Long? Aspirate? Binder How Long?
I didn't realize that after a tummy tuck that a binder is essential for recovery. How long does one have to wear it? Also, I have gained 6 pounds since the drains came out and it seems one side is bigger than the other. It is not a great big difference but it seems fuller. Do I need to get this drained? When should you have them aspirated. I know alot of questions in one sitting, but I need all the answers even parts of them at this time. Your help is greatly needed. I wore a tight fitting panty girdle for about 2 months. The binder just
didn't provide enough support. The panty girdle helped in keeping the
swelling down. As far as getting drained, your PS will know when it's time
to do it. I had to have 3 seromas drained after my tt. If there is a lot
of fluid movement (it looks like a tital wave) then it probably needs to be
drained. Also, the weight gain is normal. I was 5 pounds heavier the day
AFTER the tt. It's judt excess fluid.

Hi. The girdle (I provide a panty-girdle type garment) is important to
control swelling and "remind" you to not bend too much. I keep
patients in them 4 weeks, 24/7. Then switch to a stage 2 garment...no
zippers, more stretchy...for 12 hours a day for the next month depending on
their swelling. Fluid collections must be assessed by your doc, sometimes
by ultrasound but usually just by exam, and drained as s/he sees fit.
