Question:
H-pylori - ulcer-stricture ???

Haveing pain in center of back, and on right side around rib/breast cage area. Vomiting occassionaly, but not ever time I eat. Dr said he thought wasn't a stricture because I wasn't vomiting everytime I ate. Can an ulcer cause vomiting? And what is H-pylori?? Any help would be great, I have an appointment this afternoon and whould like some advise to go into his office with...THANKS...Or could these symptoms be totally unrealted to WLS and I'm overreacting...    — Jeana S. Hi Sweetie...sorry you're going thru pain...I recently suffered from what you're describing (h pylori bactial infection coupled with ulcers) - for three months I could barely function when the little buggers would act up, though my pain was more in my belly...back and rib cage might point to gallbladder trouble. Anyway, your doc will probably do a scope (not cheap and not fun) to see if that's the issue. If not, it will be ultrasound to see if it's gall bladder. I hope it is just h puylori/ulcers, cause I promise you, within ONE does of my meds (prevacid then nexium) I was pain free and good to go...ah the miracles of modern science. Best of luck to you...

Has your doctor checked your gall bladder recently? I had mine removed last week. When I was having attacks, I had pain under my right ribcage radiating to my center back, vomiting, diarrhea and sometimes shooting up into my right shoulder. Might be worth a trip to the doc!

forgot to mention, gallbladder was taken out at time of WLS..So I'm pretty sure it's not gallbladder related...Thanks for the great info, keep responding, my appointments at 2:00 and its 11:47 am now...

When a stricture is just starting you will not throw up every time you eat.....I've had 4 in the 9 weeks since surgery.

If you are in need of a scope, don't worry about it...I was scoped for a stricture last week (5 weeks post op). I was totally out for the procedure and I don't remember anything about it!!

Not sure what could be causing your troubles, but I do know that h-pylori is a bacteria found in your system that is linked to causing ulcers. Good luck.
