Question:
What does a Hernia feel like?

I am awaiting my psy eval. in May...and was curious...I read some where that you can "feel" if you have any hernias in your stomach by just pushing lightly. They mentioned something about the two muscles on either side of your lower ad should be joined in the middle and shouldn't not have a "break" in them that you can feel. Mine do. Very noticeable when you feel around. What does this mean?    — Renee B. (posted on March 16, 2003)

Hi, I don't have one but my hubby does, he says if you cough or sneeze you can feel it pop in and out. His is not painful and is about the size of a small orange, it is right in his incision line just above his navel, his doctor said because of the larger size of the hernia that he can hold off getting it repaired, but if it had been a smaller on it would of been fixed right away something about the smaller ones would strangulate. He can feel it move when he twists and bends. A hernia is probably different with everyone. If you suspect you ever have one get yourself to a doctor and have it checked out.
