Question:
Never hungry at 3 months post-op, can this stop weight loss?
I am 3 months post-op (LAP RNY) and so far have lost about 56 pounds. For the past month i never ger hungry, i have to force myself to eat. I always get in atleast 80 ounces of water everyday and take all my vitamins. I drink one carnation instant breakfast, half an isopure, 1 1/2-2 ounces of chicken and then and ounce of cheese, plus two BIOSHAPE pills which equal 10 grams of protein, so all together I get 65 grams of protein everyday, although my doctor wants me to get 80. But I am really only eating twice a day, i know that isn't good. <p> I got my blood work results, they were all good, and the "protein, total" was 6.4, what does that mean? I will be seeing my surgeon in 2 weeks to talk about all this, I just wanted to see if anyone else went through this or had any advise. Thanks! — Lezlie Y. (posted on September 1, 2002)

I don't recall being hungry at 3 months ether. But believe me, it should'nt
last to much longer. Sure wish I had that problem again. ;)

hi my hunger didnt return until about 5 months out . i wish it was still
like that.its weird, i still could go hours and hours without eating but
once i get that first meal in is when ill get hunger pains through out the
day. to answer your question about can not eating slow weight loss the
answer is yes. even if your not hungry you do need to get food in otherwise
your body will go into a state of panic and starvation mode will kick in
which can work against you. your body will try to hang on to it all for
dear life.interestingly for me there have been weeks where i didnt eat much
and thought WOW i bet this weeks weight loss will be awesome but it wasnt.
then there are weeks where ive thought,WOW i ate more this week i bet i
wont lose an ounce and it endes up being like 6 lbs or something. so i try
not to overdo it but i try to make sure im eating enough too. best of luck
to you :)

I am 4 1/2 and starting to realize i can eat a little more, not
significantly, but a little, and realize i get hungry too. So yes, this
does return(I think early in my case) but I don't mind, it just means back
to normal and to be careful you don't fall into those old bad habits,
you're still in the honeymoon phase, it will come off quickly, 4 1/2 months
and at 80lbs, so enjoy it while it lasts. I am not sure about the protien
numbers and where they are supposed to be, when someone knows, I hope they
email me to let me know too.

Lezlie, you are in what we refer to as the honeymoon period. All of us
experienced it for some length of time, some longer than others. Your
hunger will eventually come back-thats why you see other posters longing
for those non-hungry days!! But if you want to continue to lose weight and
stave off those plateaus you have to eat more often than you are doing.
Try for 3 times a day, even when you don't want to. I found that believe
it or not, when I ate more, I lost more!
