Question:
Why is my cycle worse, and cramps MUCH worse post op?
My cycle now comes like clockwork now, which is great. But now, it is much much heavier and my cramps are so much worse now that I am post op. (4 months RNY). I had to leave work last night cause I was in tears and Tylenol wasn't doing the trick. Had to lay down all curled up it hurt so bad. I had cramps before, but never ever like this. I know we store estrogen in our fat cells and it gets purged when we lose weight. Could this be the casue? Any insight would be very helpful. Thanks, Annie — Annie R. (posted on December 10, 2001)

Anne, I would suggest more dairy. I had the same problem, except my
cramps were always bad. Finally, as a post-op, I brought it up to my
surgeon and he reccommended more dairy in my diet--especially in the week
prior to and during my period. Can you believe it actually helped. It
wasn't perfect, but it was enough so that tylenol actually worked. Get
yourself a glasss of milk, some yogurt, pudding.

I have the same trouble! It seems like the pain and the heaviness of my
cycle is the worst it has ever been. I don't know if it has anything to do
with my PCOS but there seems to be no relief for at least the first 2 days.
If you find a "fix" please let me know.. ;o)

My surgeon prescribes Celebrex for menstral cramps since we can't take very
much to releave the pain. By GEORGE..........It WORKS!!! Ask yours about
it. I have the mother of all cramps, bed ridden and sleeping for two days.
Celebrex really helps!
