Question:
How do you get rid of all the gas after having an endoscopy (preop)?
I'm preop and had an endoscopy done Tuesday morning because of experiencing acid reflux every day. I went back to work Wednesday and have been having gurgling, loud sounds coming from my stomach, along with a lot of gas. It is so embarrassing and nothing seems to help. Does anyone have any suggestions on getting rid of it? Also, how long does it last? — Lori M. (posted on May 3, 2001)

I remember this well...in my case, the anesthesia from the procedure
traveled down the roux limb and settled in the non-functional portion of my
stomach. It was so bad for me, it was nearly paralyzing. I ached from
head to toe. My surgeon prescribed a pill to relax the GI tract. It
starts with an H, but I cannot remember the name of it. It got better in
three days.

I also have heard that warm liquids or a bath help to relax that as well..
so I guess it can't hurt to sip some warm tea or other warm beverage. I
hope it helps.
