UNJURY!! If you don't have a problem with milk, make your own shake at home. You can find the Unjury protein shake mix at www.unjury.com Mix one scoop of unjury with one package of NO SUGAR added Carnation Instant Breakfast and 8 ounces of skim milk. This shake gives you 32 grams of protein. Use the unflavored or vanilla flavored Unjury.

Hi Wanda, I'm not much of a breakfast person either. Mainly because I don't have much time in the mornings. I bought some samples from bariatriceating.com & vitalady.com to try. Everyone's tastes are different and they also change after surgery. I found some I like to drink like hot chocolate from their site. The ones I liked the most were chocolate mint & cafe mocha. You do have to put just a little hot water first & make a paste & blend until smooth before adding the rest of the water or it will not blend well & have nasty rubbery clumps that are awful. I've also found some protein bars that I've started using when I'm tired of the protein drinks. Good luck! Diana C. 234/200...since 7/13/05

Check into www.revitalize.com. These are soy-based protein shakes, and they are positively the best ones I have ever tried. They shake up smooth in water or milk, taste great, and also provide a ton of calcium. The RD at my surgeon's office signed off on them as a terrific supplement, and they're prepackaged so it's just a matter of adding liquid, shaking it up (in the shaker they provide), and going! I do have a question about water vs. milk, though. I read that mixing protein powder with milk (even skim milk) helps put weight back ON. I thought it was a good idea to mix the protein with milk to get the extra calcium... have I been doing it wrong all this time??? Thanks for the help, guys!

Personally I found the shakes I had to mix myself hard to do with 3 kids and me the "taxi" though they definatly cost LESS to make them that way. However my surgeon also approved of ready made shakes from Edge. NOT ATKINS Advantage or what ever they are called. But advant EDGE from EAS brand. With only 100 cal and 15 protien each and for me (food stamps pays for them unlike brands you buy at the health food places like GNC) They come in vanilla, chocolate, straberry, coffee carmel, ect.so I could rotate flavors. (Do I sound like a comercial? lolol) Good luck to you!!!!!!! Velvet

Wanda, i am not a breakfast or morning person, either. I had a hard time finding shakes i could actually drink without gagging. The only one I found that works for me is Isopure Dutch Chocolate, which i mix with Hood Carb countdown dairy drink. Six ounces of dairy drink with one scoop of Isopure gives me a whopping sixty ounces of protein!!! I could not handle the vanilla, but the chocolate goes down well. I find that pre-mixed drinks taste like the can they are packaged in. The bottom line is: drink whatever you can get down! What works for one person might not work for another.

You can easily make your shakes with powder & a few oz of water. If you don't want anything fancy, just shake them up and drink. They are pretty affordable if you shop around and find one that tastes good to you with water. They can cost as little as $1 per serving when you buy larger jugs at one time. I make mine with 8 oz water, some ice mostly, but in a pinch, I just add 4 oz of water, shake and down them.

Personally I tried the samples at vitalady.com and saved myself a lot of expense of shakes I couldn't drink. Whey stack is the only one I like..chocolate in warm or cold water is fine! Hot chocolate or chocolate milk flavor. I have to admit that for about 2 months after surgery I gagged them down. They were disgusting but then my taste changed and I tolerated them again. Good luck Faith 278.5/158/145
