Question:
Possible hernia

As I was getting ready for bed on Friday night a noticed a bulge about the size of a child's fist in the middle of my belly. I can feel it but it is not painful. Could this be a hernia? You know come to think of it...I never did find that little pop up button from the turkey...hmmm...think I swallowed it and it is just now popping up to tell me I am done? Just kidding about that of course. But I would like hernia input. Thanks. Char open RNY 3-11-03    — Charlene W. (posted on December 1, 2003)

yes, it sounds like you have one! I had one just above belly button and ended up having it repaired.

When you find out let us know. I have one also. I thought it was just my little tummy. When ever I drink or eat it gets hard, then as time passes it softens again. But it is about the sixe of a small fist or 2 boiled eggs.. Mine doesn't hurt either. Another lady I know has one. If it is a hernia maybe we can get TT paid for during the repair with insurance? Good luck and keep us posted OK?

Hi: I can speak from a birds eye view on hernia's. I just walked in the house from a trip to the hospital. My friend that didn't even have gastric bypass surgery had to have emergency surgery last night for an abdominal hernia that burst. A simple surgery that probably would have sent her home in 1-2 days has her in ICU with a horrible infection, 103degree fever and her doc says probably 7-9 days in the hospital. She has the most god awful scar because they were frantic to go in and get this mess out of her. She just thought she had the flu and her hernia never did stick out on her stomach like most do. If you have a hernia. call your doc. Most aren't a problem like this one, but I wouldn't want to be on the receiving end of what my friend is going thru right now. As I left, they thought that maybe before the night was up, they were going to have to use ice beds to cover her with to get the fever under control. She is one sick kid.
