Question:
Looking for financing ideas
I am going to Dr. Aguirre in Mexico ($6900.) and am looking at options of financing. I have only been to one bank and they will only give me $3500 at 20% intrest! Thats nuts!! I have good credit but don't own a home! And the other factor is that I am only 23 and they say my credit history isn't long enough....ANY SUGGESTIONS??? — Snowflake48342 (posted on May 7, 2003)

Can you get someone to co-sign the loan (your parents, maybe)? Do you
parents own their home and could they get a home equity loan or a second
mortgage and loan you the money and you pay them back?

Try capitalone.com and click on the medical. They approved me for my
surgery in case I would need it.
Thanks,

I financed $8,000 through MBNA (MBNA.com) about 1 year ago. The interest
rate was 14.99% and I just switched it to a credit card with a much lower
interest rate to get the balance to drop faster. But, I don't own a home
either and they had no problem financing up to $10,000. Give it a try.

I took a cash advance on my credit card for the surgery. At that time the
rate on my card for cash advances was 9.9%. I since have switched to
Capital One and the rate is 0% until August and then 6.9% after that. Even
if you don't have a credit card you can apply for one - the rates right now
are a lot less than some of these other financing options out there. Good
luck! Lisa

Do you have a 401K at work, you can borrow the money from it without
pentelties, it is allowed for medical, and then you pay yourself back. Or
possible a relative, if not your parents, a aunt or uncle. Sell some
personnal things, it is such a small amount, you will find a way to get the
money.
