Question:
How long it will take my approval......
We live in Texas now, but we came just last year from California, so by my husband's work we got Humana PPO, After a couple of weeks that I received my card I began with all my paperwork for my surgery. My question is, Do you guys think that I will be rejected easily because I am new with the insurance company?. My BM, 46, and thank's GOD, no too many health problems yet, in my booklet said they accept the surgery if it's over 40(BM), I guess I am nervous to hear something, because from my surgeon's office they sent my papers on April 3, and they did received them, but they told me to don't call the insurance, because they will handle everything for me. Thank you , for your answers, and God Bless You all. — Rosa M. (posted on May 1, 2003)

Did you have other insurance coverage before you moved? If so, you are
covered by HIPPA, which is a federal law that prevents a new insurance
company from using any pre-existing conditions clauses against you if you
have had coverage within 63 days of getting your current policy. It
doesn't matter at all that you have moved to another state, since this is a
federal law. Sounds like you qualify. The other poster is right. Let
your surgeon handle this. Most doctor's offices these days have people who
don't do anything but insurance billing. They know what they need to do to
get coverage for you, as long as your policy covers WLS.
