Question:
My ins. has procedure code as 43846
The sample appeal letter on here states that it should be 43847 ...but ins has it as 43846. Is this because I am having laproscopic Rny? Also she didn't say anything about diagnosis code...should I ask what it is? I JUST WANT TO GET APPROVED!! Grrr....Please help! — Snowflake48342 (posted on March 27, 2003)

My insurer, Aliiance PPO, uses a different code from both of those for Lap.
They use the codes you have for open RNY. When I asked them why they have
different codes, they simply stated that they use different codes. I
confirmed the description that went with their code and the Dr. and I used
their code. I wouldn't worry about it just make sure their code matches
what you're Dr is asking for.
