Question:
Can someone tell me what happens when you have an infection
Hi, Post-op Lap RNY 2 weeks. Have 7 small less than 1 inch incisions and 1 drain hole. One incision is infected, I noticed it today. Another isnt infected but it seems real hard around the edges. I go to my surgeon tomorrow and was wondering if someone could tell me what to expect. Will he just put me on antibiotics? It looks like the skin isnt meeting to heal, he told me that I am stitched on the inside. Was hoping someone could tell me what Im in for tomorrow. Also what does it mean when one incision is hard. (7 incisions secondary to big ole liver..lol). Thank you. — L M. (posted on March 19, 2002)

I had open RNY, but about 10 days into recovery I had a massive rash. Went
to the Doctor thinking it was a reaction to Neosporin, but it wasn't. My
wound healed on the outside, but inside had a hole full of infection. He
opened it up (size of a pencil, and as deep as 4 inches), packed it, and
gave me antibotics. We packed it for over 2 weeks until it stopped oozing
and closed up. It didn't hurt, but was not fun taping my skin with gauze.
Hope you will be alright, Good luck with your journey. p.s. some people
don't like comparing LAP to OPEN, but an incision is an incsion. *SMILE*
