Question:
Has anyone had emotional issues a year out from surgery?
I have been very emotional lately. Much, much more than normal. My therapist told me that emotions can be held in the cells and that I may be hitting a "pocket" of held in emotions that may have been there for years. Has anyone else heard of or experienced this? — smatney (posted on February 26, 2002)

Yes! yes! yes!, lots of hormones are stored in fat- so while you lose your
going to expirience emotional ups & downs... sexual (libido!) highs and
lows- this is normal- just try not to make any drastic changes (no affairs
or haircuts!!!) while expiriencing them! As they soon fade. You Post-Ops-
recognize that this WILL happen! I tend to figure this out whilst
blubbering uncontrollably- but then that tends to take whatever I am
emotional about - down a few notches, and I relax. Once I see I could be
having one of those "moments" I recognize it for what it is- and
try and relax about the situation. Drink some water, I'll take an extra
Prozac (Dr said it was OK) a midol or pamprin and gel out a bit....

yes my therapist said that as we lose weight emotions start showing
themselves
such as past traumas or episodes that we have locked away and built a wall
of fat around so
that we didn't have to deal with them then. Now that the wall is coming
down or is down emotions
will appear you never knew you had.
