Question:
How far in advance are pre-op tests done?
My doctor said my pre-op would be on 12/4/01 and the surgery on 12/12/01. Now they have changed the pre-op to 12/11/01 and the surgery is still on 12/12/01. I am just nervous they are going to find something that postpones the surgery. — Wendy R. (posted on December 9, 2001)

My doctor said that he wanted the tests within 30 days of surgery. Other
than that, it could be the day before or 29 before that.

My surgeon does his pre-op tests no later than two weeks before surgery.

I did my pre-op tests on Wednesday and had my surgery on Friday. I know
there was one pre-op test (MRI) where the results weren't in my record when
I checked into the hospital. I was nervous about it, but it did not delay
my surgery. I told the nurse in charge that it had been done so I don't
know if she tracked down the results or not.

My pre op tests are scheduled for dec 13th and my surgery date is dec 18th
the nurse also mentioned there would be a few tests done on the 17th but
for the most part most of them will be done on the 13th ...... i think
tests are normally scheduled within 2 weeks of surgery ......good luck with
your surgery...

because i have to travel 5 hours to get my surgery done, my pre-ops r being
done the day before surgery. i questioned the wisdom of this & was
assured that they do it all the time.

I've just had my pre-op tests today [10th Dec] and my surgery is scheduled
for next Tuesday. They're pretty simple tests once you get to see the
doctor. It's the waiting that's takes the longest.
Bottoms Up.
