Question:
After antibiotics , my incision is still draining? How long? Can I get my stiches out

Two weeks post op, I started draining at the incision site. My surgeon says it is quite normal. He put me on anitbiotics for a week. My staples hurt and when I feel my stomache getting hard it starts to drain. I am frustrated.    — Marcie M. (posted on February 13, 2001)

I had some drainage post op. It had quit by two weeks post op. THe color and amount of drainage is important. Mine was pink colored so it was normal. If fluid collects you want it to drain because you don't want it collecting to get infected. Just go with it. Your doctor will tell you when to start worrying. Also I think you will be able to get staples out. I am almost two days short of three weeks post op and my staples are coming out tomorrow. But check with your doctor.
