Question:
How long should I wait before I try to get approval from my new insurance AETNA PPO ?
My Husband just started a job a month and a half ago, and I was wondering how long I should wait before trying to get wls approval? I know his company does not have any pre-existing clauses. We have AETNA PPO US~~Katrina — Katrina D. (posted on December 2, 2000)

If you don't have any pre-existing clause in the policy, then go ahead and
apply for approval right away. This is what I did too. My husband got a
new job, with new insurance. As soon as I had my new insurance card, I
gave the info to my surgeon and had him send in the paperwork. They
approved me right away without any problem. I had CIGNA PPO, but Aetna
should be the same.

Katrina - I am with Aetna HMO. Once my Dr. submitted the paperwork to the
insurance co, I called them almost every day to check on the status. It
took right at two weeks for me to get approved. They also sent me a
letter. Good luck! My surgery date is 12/19!

If you had insurance prior and you just switched a new insurance you don't
have to wait at all. If they can say it was a pre-exsisting condition you
may have to wait for 6 months, but thats where the medically necessary
thing comes in.

Atena does not have a waiting period like most insurance plans do. I
joined in September, applied in October and was approved in November. GO
FOR IT!!!
