Question:
Why is there pressure and a bloated feeling around my incision?

I am 2 weeks post op from an open surgery. I have a pressure, swollen, bloated feeling up high around the top part of my incision, near the very top of my abdomin. Is this normal? What is it? How can I relieve the pressure? It feels like I'm going to split!    — cloudy (posted on July 8, 2004)

Call the doc. It is very possibly a fluid build-up and it's better to have them open up a little spot and get it out than wait for it to open itself. Sometimes it will get quite infected before it lets go. Best not to mess with it and get an opinion from the surgeon.
