Question:
If they find the bacteria that can cause ulsers during you're endoscope will they?
My surgeon stated during me pre-op endoscopic proceedure, " I think she may have the bacteria that may cause ulsers in her stomach. When I became coherant after the medication, it was too late to ask what would happen? Does or has any one else have or had this??? — deborah R. (posted on April 12, 2004)

Because that bacteria is so common my surgeon puts everyone on flagyl and
other antibiotics right before surgery to wipe those bugs out. Dont worry
about it.

I think most people have the bacteria, I was put on antibiotics for 7
days. It did nothing to delay my surgery. It's just a precautionary
measure. Good luck to you :-)

The bacteria they found is probably H pylori, and most are treated with
Prev pac, it contains two antibotics and prevacid, this is a 1 or 2 week
treatment, no big deal, just take what ever he perscribs and you will be
fine.
