Question:
please help- abdominalplasty - pre auth approved - but delima

I just talk to the surgeons office that I had planned to get my tummy tuck done at and although i was approved for the surgery, they want the total amount of 7800 bucks up front, now since i cannot afford to come up with that amount I am thinking of going to someone on my plan, as the surgeon i originally picked is not on my plan...Has anyone done this and how did it go? are u gonna have to go through the whole process of getting authorization again? and is it gonna be hard? can i use this pre auth and just switch to another surgeon? any advice will help thanx Deanna    — Deanna Wise (posted on April 23, 2003)

I asked this of my insurance company; they told me that you are pre authorized by PROCEEDURE, as long as the 'new' doctor does the same proceedure you are fine. Of course, they still have to pre cert the hospital...
