Question:
Tanita Bio-Electrical Impedence Body Fat Analysis - please help
I am a year post op (12/18/01) and down to apx 150-152 it fluctuates...My goal weight is 140 but then I wanted to have a tummy tuck so that will probably take off another 10 pnds which will put me where I need to be. My question is this, I had the body fat test done and my reading was 17.2%, the trainer said that was low and that the normal range is 21-33%, but she said not to worry, just dont go below 15% my question is this, how am i to acheive my goal weight, and not lose any more fat ???? is anyone else out there with the same status?? What is more important to look for, weight, bmi or body fat or all of them??? thanx for your help — Deanna Wise (posted on January 30, 2003)

I don't think this exactly answers your question, but I wouldn't worry
about the borderline body fat reading now, as I understand we have a bit of
a weight gain after a few years when our bodies figure how to compensate
for part of our surgery. Also, muscle weighs more than fat, so you can
increase your weight by building muscle -- hence, the exercise the doctors
tell us to do.

I am on the other end of this issue. I currently weigh in at 182; however,
my fat % is 21.2. This puts me in the athletic range for my sex, age and
weight. Figure this one out. I can only speculate all of the weight
lifting I have done is playing into this, and I have lots of skin on my
legs and butt to be removed. Good luck.

When I worked with my first physcial trainer back in 1995 I had this body
fat test done and was 13% and about 200+ lbs...I don't think those things
are very accurate!
