Question:
Low fat cheese for scrambled eggs... Suggestions?
I have been eating a scrambled egg for protein. (Egg yolks are an excellent source of AVAILABLE iron). I add cheese too (2 TBSP). Has anyone had luck with low fat grated cheese? Sometimes these low fat / no fat products load up on empty carbs and leave behind no nutrition. Ideas? — Karen F. (posted on June 10, 2002)

Read the label on the low-fat cheese to see how much protein, carbs and fat
it has.

I use swiss cheese, one slice with one egg. My wife and I
split it for breakfast!!! I read a protein list about cheese
and here is what it listed for swiss cheese: 1 cup of swiss
cheese = 37 gr protein, 496 calories, 36 fat, 4 carbs. Now
remember that is 1 whole cup, I don't think you want to use
that much!!!!! I don't know how much is in one thin slice.

I use a fake cheese, it's fat free, dairy free and basically flavor free
but melted it is good! It's called either Heart Smart or something like
that. I purchase this product as our local health food store.

Cabot makes a 75% light cheddar cheese that has 2.5g of fat per ounce. It
isn't that good to eat a slice, but as a condiment it is really yummy.
They also have a 50% light with 4.5g fat per ounce. This is really yummy.
It also comes in 1 oz sandwich slices!

Hi! You'll find that most of the 'white' cheeses are lower in fat than the
'yellow' cheeses.. stay away from processed cheeses (the slices in plastic
wrap, stuff in jars and stuff not refrigerated IE: Velveeta) and you have
many choices. I personally like mozarrella, swiss, monterey jack and
havarti with dill.. happy tasting! ~Peace
