Question:
Big hematoma all around my wound...

i had wls on jan 22... i am home now and since i had my surgery i have larges hematomas all over the belly... my wounds is draining blood and the hematomas are changing color from day to day.. i am affraid that the hematoma turn into a wound infection (seroma) has anyone got the same problem and went out of it with no problem ?    — carou1313 (posted on January 27, 2002)

I had this happen to me. Had my surgery on Wednesday August 1, 2001. My incision at the belly button kept oozing blood - didn't think much of it. On Tuesday August7th I went to work and it was like the dam burst. I ruined my dress - went to the ER where they put a pressure bandage on and it finished draining. Color changed as blood drained out. I had no infection just needed to eliminate the excess blood.

Please, Please contact your surgeon asap. Any drainage that is not clear needs to be reported to the doctor. Best wishes.
