Question:
Has anyone used home health care for thier recovery process?
I am scheduled for surgery Ausust 20th 2001. My family has decided that they have no room for me at thier house and can not take care of me. They also think I should be okay after only 1 or 2 days. I am left with the only option of home health care, which will hopefully be covered by insurance. Has anyone had or heard of using home healthcare entirely for the recovery process? Comments please! — Tiffany M. (posted on July 29, 2001)

I am preop and don't use it for myself. However, I may choose that option
as well. I do have a home health care provider come into my home to help
me take care of my son and she also takes care of him while I'm working as
well. She cooks, cleans, and just takes care of our needs. I'm not sure if
this is answering your question but I also have had a home health care
provider take care of my grandfather. She would come in and help him take a
shower, wash his hair. Change the sheets on his bed and such. I imagine I
have the exeption to the rule - and of course she is not through my
insurance, but my grandfather's was.

dont stay all day but will help with personal care and wound care

I had to have home health care 9 days after surgery because my wound did
not heal and had to have it packed for a few weeks and then did it myself.
However, the surgery although painful did not make me helpless and I did
not need any help after returning home from the hospital. I was on my feet
a few hours after surgery and at home never went back to bed or anything
life was pretty normal except my eating.
