Question:
Should I highlight my hair?
Hello, My hair has started to fall out.Not real bad though. I am going to have my hair done, cut and highlighted, and was wondering if my hair will fall out more with lightening my hair? I figure since I am changing the outside of my body...I need to change My hairdo, Right? I feel so good about myself. I have lost 104 pounds! RNY on 3-15-01. Thank You! — Valerie D. Getting the haircut is a great idea. It will put less stress on your scalp.
I don't see any problem with the highlighting but I would do it with foils
as opposed to pulling it through a cap. Your hairdresser will be better
able to access the situation when she examins the condition of your hair
and scalp.

WTG on your wonderful weight loss. I'm very happy for you. As far as the
hair, I can totally relate. I went from having hair down to my waist to
completely short boyhair all in a space of maybe two months. The
"weight" of my hair I felt contributed to it being pulled out, so
the much shorter hair wasn't as heavy. But I would be careful about
coloring it quite yet ... maybe wait until the falling out part quits?

Congrats on your weight loss! I didn't have my hair highlighted, I covered
up the gray at about 4 months post-op. I never had a problem with my hair
falling out and it went a long way to making me feel better about myself!
Shortly after I got rid of the gray people started noticing my weight loss
and they now tell me I look much younger which I love hearing since I'm
only 42 and was tired of looking 52!!! I say go for it - you deserve a
treat!
