Question:
Can you lose 15 pounds on medi-fast prior to surgery? Its required
Hi everyone: I just had my last pre-op meeting with Dr. Lirio yesterday and I need to take medifast for two weeks prior to surgery. Is it possible to lose 15 pounds on this in only 2 weeks? If I don't lose this he said he would postpone my surgery. I've waited almost a year to get this done! Any input would be greatly appreciated. — Lorraine L. (posted on April 26, 2001)

Personally I think the Doctor sounds like a real ass ___
too bad you hadn't seen this earlier
Now you will just have to starve the 15 lbs off and yes it is possible
but you will not beable to cheat even once...a suggestion...
exlax and diaretics 2 days before checking in with the Doctor..
that will ensure at least 5 lbs...
What in the world is wrong with some of these Doctors ..do they
think to punish us by insisting we lose before surgery..
Yes they have the power over us..
but compassion works much better with us then playing hard ball
good luck
you can do it
I have faith in you

I have a question related to your question: Why is that doctor torturing
you??? Not only starvation, but then the threat on top of it. It seems so
unfair!!! I hate to sound like a city chick but the doctors around here
require none of that stuff: I mean the things Ive heard that people have
endured (ie: bowel preps, two week starvations, no nail polish, etc) I ate
up until the midnight of my surgery, got my nails polished and no bowel
prep. No problems. I know of three others around here in the same
circumstances. I wish that someone can tell these doctors that some of
this is unnecessary. Anyways, I can tell you that I lost about 12 pounds
in two weeks on optifast, without working out. (I was a 'light weight at
235 pounds!!) So I guess its doable. Best of luck to you and thanks for
the forum to vent.
