Question:
Has anyone had a Tubal Ligation done at the same time as their WLS?
Saw my surgeon for the first visit yesterday, and asked about getting a tubal during my WLS. He said it wouldn't be a problem. So I said, 'Great, let's do it!" NOW.... I'm concerned that this little extra twist will delay my approval through Guardian PPO. Does anyone have any encouraging words about adding the tubal to this surgery? Insurance or otherwise? — Laurie L. (posted on February 9, 2001)

I had a tubal ligation with my open RNY. However, I was already approved
for wls when I decided to get the tubal. I have BCBS, federal government
and it paid for everything except approx. $200 copayments, but I'm not sure
how it was submitted to the insurance company.

No problem! My neighbor had her tubes tied with her surgery. I had four
surgeries at once with mine -- including appendectomy, re-repaired
incisional hernia, and vagotomy. I was approved in one week from BCBS of
ND.

My doc will be doing a tubal, appendectom, vagotomy, as well as checking
the air in the tires and an oil change! (Kidding!)
Seriously, most docs doing an Open Rny will do a tubal, while they have you
on the table.

I am a pre-op planning on doing the RNY surgery and also a tubal
ligation also. My surgeon does this as a non-reversible. As long
as they are gonna be digging around there, they might as well do
that too. I have two beautiful girls, and that's all the children
I've wanted anyway.
