Question:
What cold medicines are ok to take at 5 weeks post-op?

I'm 5 weeks post-op and have developed a nasty cold....I usually take Alka Seltzer cold medicine whenever I have a cold....but I was wondering if the "fizz" in it would harm my stomach? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! =-)    — Marcella S. (posted on August 21, 2000)

Try Sudafed - little tiny pills! They will clear your nose right up. Alka Seltzer is NOT a good idea.

From a list the dr gave me: robitussin, Dimetapp, tylenol cold products, Thiamines(any), Sudafed, Benadryl, Safetussin. Take sugar free when possible.
