What cold medicines are ok to take at 5 weeks post-op?

I'm 5 weeks post-op and have developed a nasty cold....I usually take Alka Seltzer cold medicine whenever I have a cold....but I was wondering if the "fizz" in it would harm my stomach? Does anyone have any suggestions? Thanks! =-)
