Question:
Do you know of good nutrition related website?
I am concerned about my post op diet. I want to get enough protein, but I also want to get enough fiber (I do not want to be consitpated for the rest of my life). I also want to get enough calcium--as both my mother and grandmother have severe osteoperosis. HELP! I would appreciate some links to nutrition related websites. If there are any specifically designed for us WLS patients, please let me know. THANKS. — Polly F. (posted on July 27, 2000)

I don't know of any websites that can give nutritional guidelines for us,
and if one existed it would only be general in all liklihood, but your
surgeon or his staff (nutritionist or clinical nurse) should be able to
give you some specific guidelines. A lot depends on your surgery, the
length of your bypass (if any) and your own lab results. Armed with the
info from my nutritionist, I use Dietwatch (http://www.dietwatch.com) to
track my daily intake. It's a great tool for tracking weight loss, too.
Best of luck!
