Question:
How easy it is to swallow those large multivitamins?

This is my first time on the A&Q, I saw my surgeon and now I am waiting for the insurance. But it seems everything has to be chewed uo so well how well do these horse pills go down? The ones I take now are so big. Thanks, Cathy Bernal    — Cathy B. (posted on July 7, 2000)

I take 14 supplements in the morning and 14 at night and that has been going down well for about two months. My multi-vitamins are huge but the disolve quickly so they do not cause me any problems. I did the childrens chewables at first because the less stress I put on my body the better I felt. Now things are back to normal in the respect.

I used All One Vitamin Powder for the first 30 days (with additional iron and calicum). Gaack. I woudn't necesarily recommend it. But you might want to break 'em in half at first, then gradually, try them whole, as time goes on and you heal and begin to feel normal. After my recent revision (new pouch), I had no trouble getting the vites in right away. But then, I EXPECTED them to go in. LOL!

At first I took the childrens chewables for about two months. Then I tried the multivitamins and it went down very well. I dont think at first anyone can take them, not sure, but, I was advised to take the chewables for a couple of months first. Now, that I am 5 months post op, I can take the big horse pills just fine. I hope this helps.

The first six weeks or so after surgery I took Bugs Bunny sugar free chewables. After that I started taking regular multi-vitamins and cutting them in half. You can buy a pill cutter at any drug store (it's a little easier than using a knife).

My nurse gave me a huge multi-vitamin the day I left the hospital. I swallowed it with no problem. I now take One-A-Day Women's Formula because of the extra iron and calcium. I also take Citracal and B12. I've never had to chew, crush, or cut pills. Tina-2 months post-op, open proximal RNY, down 49 lbs.

I've been taking GNC mega women since 1 month post-op. It goes down fine and I continue to take it. It is very good.

Hi. most of the folks I have talked to did not and do not even try to get those horse pills down. Read the label on Flintstones Complete chewables. I think they have 100% of almost everything you need, they do not have sugar. Check label though, Flintstones makes various product lines. I also use active kids chewables sometimes, but they have sugar, so I prefer the Flintstones. LOL Beth.
