Question:
What about high dose oral steroids and WLS?

I have been on prednisone continuously for the past five years (between 120 and 10 mg./day) and wonder if anyone else has been on this much for this long. How was it affected by WLS? Was anyone able to totally eliminate oral steroids? My surgeon thinks I can get off totally.    — Maria H. (posted on June 14, 2000)

Hi, It is my understanding that steroids will greatly effect your ability to heal from surgery. What does your surgeon say about this? I think it is a contraindication to surgery until you have been off of them for a while. Are you on steroids for asthma? or an auto-immune disease? Please talk to your docs carefully about this before getting operated on. Valerie
