Question:
What to expect for pre-op tests?

My surgery date has been set for February 15 with Dr. Hahn in Orange, TX for an open RNY. My pre-op tests are scheduled for the prior thursday and I was wondering if anybody could clue me in on what to expect. All I was told was to report at 7am and don't drink or eat after 10pm the night before.    — John G. (posted on January 29, 2000)

Hi John. My surgery date is 2/19 and on the 26th had the first round of my pre-op test. They were stress test, pulmonary functions (taking blood from an artery in my wrist OUCH!!!), sonogram, upper GI (love that barium YUM), mammogram (you probably won't have to endure that pain HA HA) and chest x-ray. On the 9th of Feb I go back for the second and last before round before surgery on the 18th. You'll do just fine. Good luck and God bless. Jen
