Question:
Why would my blood sugars be rising when I eat right?

I am post op by 2 12 weeks. When I came home from hospital my blood sugar never rised over 100 even though my insulin was cut down 30 units.Recently my blood sugars have been elevated (165 this evening) (both morning and evening) even though I am eating the same amount of carbs.I have even increased my insulin by 5 units each morning and night. My mother is a diabetic and just had open heart surgery Fri.(7/2/99.) Her blood sugar was elevated and they said it was due to the stress her body had just been through.

I was told by my physician that my blood sugar would rise during "dumping" syndrome. Could this be the situation in your case? I would suggest talking with your physician about it. Best of luck to you.
