Question:
Help! 10 months out and GAINING!

I don't understand it. I have been really good this month and have cut carbs, 2-3 protein shakes per day, walking like crazy, even running and I am getting in my 64 oz. of water and I have gained 4 pounds over the last week. Is this muscle? and if it is, when will it level out and how? I am so scared.    — AliciasMommy (posted on March 31, 2004)

Maybe you are not drinking enough water. 64 oz a day is the minimum for anyone, but if you add exercise to that it increases your fluid needs. Also, if you live in a warmer climate, you should also be drinking more than that. Our muscles will hold onto water if we're not taking in enough. If you walk every day, fairly strenuously, so that you are working up a sweat, you definitely need to drink more.

I'm a huge advocate for taking measurements. Have you done that? That is one sure-fire way to know if you are gaining muscle and losing fat. The month that I lost the least amount of weight which was 4 lbs was also the month that I really kicked up the exercising. I ended up losing more inches that month than I have in any other. That really lifted my spirits! I also agree with the other poster that you need to up your water to compensate for working out. I leave the gym each day drenched do I try to drink a minimum of 96 oz per day. I wonder if we will ever not be afraid of getting back to pre-op size. I guess it's a healthy fear to have....it keeps our weight in check. Good luck :)

Hi, I wouldn't worry to mouch, it is probably water rentention or muscle gain, cuz if you are lifting weights at all, then of course you are going to gain some muscle, even running can put muscle on, so don't worry too much, unless you gain alot, good luck!
