Question:
What is causing this sharp pain of trapped gas throughout my abdomin?
I am almost 2 years post-op (-192 lbs) and the last two months, I have been experiencing painful trapped gas that tends to travel between my stomach and chest area for hours to a day at a time until the gas is passed. I'm not sure why I am having this all the sudden (I haven't changed any of my eating habits) and am wondering if any of you have had this experience or know why this is happening and how to stop it. — Kelly M. The only way to know for sure is to go to your doctor. It's what I'd do.

I am a a little over 2 years post-op (2/27/02) and I have the same
problem, it almost feels like there's something traveling around in my
stomach, thoses gas pains and cramps are the worst!!! when I had my
hysterectomy last sept. the nurse told me to lay on my left side, don't ask
me why , but it works, it pushes the gas out!!! sounds gross I know, but if
I lay on my left side and just kind of curl up nice and small, and cover up
with a nice warm blanket,(also try some hot tea),,, it goes away fairly
quick, hope this helps!! I did notice my system/pouch is getting more
senstive now, some of the stuff I could eat before I can't eat now or I
have to run to the bathroom really quick!! and I can't eat as much now
either...

I am having the same problems. I am almost a year post op and I developed
severe pain in the small intestine region. My doctor put me on
antibotics... Flagyl, which cleared up the infection. I just saw a
gastrologist yesterday and he said that I probably developed and infection
that aggrevated my mild case of irritable bowel syndrome. He gave me an
antispasmatic medicine that is sublingual. I am also taking FiberCon which
helps tremendously and Equalacin, which also helps. But yes, the pain feels
like something gets stuck before you finally get relief passing the gas. I
omitted caffeine, chocolate, and dairy from my diet until the severe pains
went away.
