What is causing this sharp pain of trapped gas throughout my abdomin?

I am almost 2 years post-op (-192 lbs) and the last two months, I have been experiencing painful trapped gas that tends to travel between my stomach and chest area for hours to a day at a time until the gas is passed. I'm not sure why I am having this all the sudden (I haven't changed any of my eating habits) and am wondering if any of you have had this experience or know why this is happening and how to stop it.
