Question:
Can you suggust a small (in size) pill for pain that will not hurt our pouch?

I am having surgery tomorrow morning arm lift and breast implants. I will be a year out from open WLS in 4 days. The problem is the only pill I have taken since then is the Iron pill. I still take the chewable Vits. I always had a hard time swallowing pills before surgery so I stayed with the chewables after. sorry rambling. Anyway the liquid I was gave after WLS I took one time it was wayyyy to strong for me. made me dizzy, snow white, sweaty. Any suggustion of what I can ask for that is the same size as a Iron pill or smaller??? Thanks    — Jane T. (posted on February 29, 2004)

Can you just break in half whatever they give you? I have been taking big pills since a few weeks out. Pouch is fine.

I personally break all my pills in half and swallow them, however, for other "pain" such as headaches, I take the chewable Excedrin "Quicktabs". Unlike regular excedrin, there isn't any aspirin in the quicktabs, only 500mg tylenol and a little caffeine. They work great (and quickly) for me and I wasn't a tylenol taker before surgery. Good Luck.

I went to support group last week and the hospital pharmacist talked to us about what we could and couldn't take and on pills he said we need to crush all pills and put in like applesauce to take for better results. You can get a pill crusher at any pharmacy. Nancy

Make sure to talk to your doctor so that they can prescribe a pill for you that can be crushed and put into something. This is going to be the best way for you if you have a hard time swallowing pills. There are pills out there that absolutely should not be crushed or broken. A pharmacist is another good source of information.
