Question:
Can't fall asleep
Hi everyone, 2 years postop, and I have so much trouble falling, and staying asleep. I have tried different sleeping pills, antihisamines, and currently taking Neurontin which I just read on here can cause the munchies which I don't need, any suggestions? I am actice, and work partime. I don't drink caffeine in the afternoon either. I did try Melatonin, didn't like the effect, it made me have bad dreams, I am lost at what to do, thank you everyone for your help, hope I am not alone with this problem, nancy suzie meriwether oct 15,2001 278/160 open rny — lostitall (posted on October 20, 2003)

Nancy, have the docs given you a cause for your sleep issues? Menopause?
Fibromyalgia? Both are known to be disruptive to sleep..I have no trouble
falling asleep but periodically have trouble staying asleep, especially
when I am stressed over something. The doc gave me a prescription for
ambien. It worked wonders!! Only problem was that I could only take it
for 10 days or so...boo. Other suggestions: eat something heavy before
bed, or have a warm glass of milk. Also, try doing an internet search on
sleep. I know there are other suggestions to help set the right
environment for sleep (what to do and not to do) but can't remember what
they all are...

I use Trazodone pre-op and post-op. Your symptoms are worth mentioning to
your doctor, for instance, possible sleep apnea or depression? Good luck.
