This sounds like a gallbladder problem to me. Interestingly, I am at almost
six months and having exactly the same problem. My doc wants to do a
gallbladder ultrasound to check for stones... - (Lap RNY 23-Jan-2003

Hi! I had the same exact problem last April. I would eat fine, but then I
would get a terrible pain that would go straight to my back and it would
last sometimes and hour or two. After the pain would subside, I would be
very sore. This went on for about 4 days or so and I finally called the
doctor. I spent the day in the ER where they did a sonogram, x-rays,
blood-work & urinalysis. Initially I was convinced it was my
gallbladder because everyone I told, told me the same thing "Sounds
like gallbladder". Well, much to my surprise, it wasn't. I had an
internal hernia which needed repairing. I was fortunate not to have any
damage to my bowel. PLEASE... call your doctor! I'm doing great now, but
I really think the faster you resolve it, the better off you will be.

I agree with a previous poster, sounds like it could be gallbladder.
Gallbladder tends to flare up worse the more fat there is in something. I
had a coworker that would walk around holding her side. As long as she
didn't eat she was okay. Fat free food caused mild pain, and fatty food
made her have to go home. I would suggest calling your doctor soon to have
your gallbladder looked at. Good luck!

Do you have your gall bladder? If so, this could be the problem. I was
having this problem before surgery, so the doctor went ahead and took my
gall bladder day of surgery. Check into this.

I also have this from time to time. I had my gallbladder removed when I was
19, so I knew this was not the problem. I finally broke down and went to
the doctor to find out I was impacted. I now take 1 teaspoon of mineral oil
each day and have not had this problem since. It was the worst pain I
believe I have ever had.

Call your doctor!!!! Don't mess around with your pretty newly altered
insides by waiting to see if it is something or nothing. Better safe than
sorry! Also don't be too quick to blame everything on the surgery, it could
always be something else completely unrelated. I learned that the hard way!

We're all well meaning folks on this site but most of us are not medical
specialists. CALL YOUR DOCTOR - DO NOT WAIT! You may simply have
gallstones but don't take our word for it! CALL THAT DOC NOW!

well, it MIGHT be your gallbladder, but, it also could be pancreatitis.
gallbladder pain more frequently radiates to your right shoulder, however,
pancreatitis radiates straight through to your back. frequently,
pancreatitis accompanies cholecystitis (inflamed/infected gall bladder).
there are many causes for these situations. you really NEED to go to your
doc and/or hospital and get this checked out.

It might be an ulcer or you might be full of "stool". I've been
having the same type of pains but not related to eating. It happens when it
happens. Extremely painful. You really need to call your surgeon.
