Question:
Lightweight or Heavyweight, is there a percentage formula for judging weight loss
Since we are all different, many of us being lightweights as opposed to heavyweights and vice-versa, is there a percentage scale that shows by percent how much weight we should lose at certain points instead of by pounds? That way we can judge how much weight we as individuals should expect to lose(i.e. - 10% of EBW at 1 month, 15% at two months, etc.) and not get discouraged because we might not have lost as many "pounds" as the next person, but may have lost the same percentage. Kinda like the BMI figure. Any ideas? — Denise B. (posted on July 7, 2003)

I don't know about the other surgeries, but the formula for duodenal switch
is 1/3 of excess weight lost at 3 months, 1/2 at 6, and the rest over the
next year; 18 months total. Some ocntinue to lose after that time frame,
others (thinner people) stop losing sooner, 12-15 months. One friend pretty
much stopped losing after a year, and is heavier than you'd ever think to
look at her (bone weight, we assume). She was always pear shaped and is now
very slim hipped. Another got stuck at a weight she was unhappy with. Then
at 2 years, figuring that was it, she had a TT. She lost another 50 lbs!
She's slim-hipped too...at one year PO I too dream of slim hips! LOL Chris

Also, if you go to the AMOS site map under "General Tools" there
is a weight loss planner. Maps out how much you could expect to lose over
an 18-month period to reach whatever you set. Fun to play with.
