Question:
HELP Pacificare Promed IPA, So Cal.
Help again please, My mother called her insurance and found out Pro-med IPA is part of Pacificare!?????? What does this mean? They wouldn't give her any info about what they require for gastric bypass surgery! All they have told her is that is up to her surgeon. Please help! She is going to go to a medical group in Pomona, CA. She wants to knwo if they require a 6 month supervised diet? Do they require pysch eval? — candylnd24 (posted on June 9, 2003)

Hi Elizabeth: I am not familiar with Pro-med IPA, but I had Pacific Care
PPO and they did require a psych eval and I had a tough time with my
medical group....Pacific care helped me thru 2 turn downs but pick your
medical groups CAREFULLY....they can make your life miserable.....I had to
switch medical groups because my dr at my first medical group said that
they DID NOT ADVOCATE ANY TYPE OF GASTRIC BYPASS SURGERY...This broke down
in my mind that they didn't want to pay for it...it comes out of their
pocket...
