Question:
Am I eating to much at 18 weeks post op?
I had Lap Rny on 12/16/02. I only weigh once a month and so far have lost 67 lbs down from 314 pre op. I am 5 8 1/4. Am I on the right track? Sometimes I can eat a whole 8 oz yogurt at once or a boiled egg and piece of toast and maybe half the yogurt but its in about 30 to 45 min? No drinking included. I feel like I am not losing enough. Can anyone in the AMOS family respond that was around my height/weight post op? I really need some guidelines. Thanks so much. — Angela C. (posted on April 25, 2003)

You should eat your meal in 15-30 minutes. Any longer than that and you
will be able to eat more than you should because food will be exiting the
pouch allowing additional food to enter. Yogurt is liquid enough that it
passes through the pouch fairly quickly allowing you to eat more...JR

Angela, you are not eating too much at your stage, but I will add to John's
comment on the time it is taking you to eat. Your goal should be the
entire meal in 15 minutes, which gets easier the further out you get.
30-45 minutes is way to long and is bordering on grazing.

Hi, Angela. I love this place!! Thanks for posting. You don't think
you're losing "enough" and I kinda thought so too because 67 in
four months didn't seem like "alot," soooo I read you're profile
and discovered your loss so far:
1st month -19
2nd month - 24
3rd month - 11
4th month - 13
I averaged months 3 and 4 for an estimate for months 5 and 6 (i.e., 12
pounds each month for a total of 24 more pounds lost). At this rate you
come out at -91 pounds in 6 months!!! That's awesome!! You don't think
so!? I hope I lose at your pace. I'm 5 weeks out and hope I'll be down 91
pounds on 9/18/03, my 6 months anniversary. Why are we so hard on
ourselves? Best of luck to ya! You're doing great!
