Question:
Anyone associate tongue sores with Sugar Free Candies?
Hello All, I seemed to have noticed a pattern today, and was wondering if anyone else has had this problem. I will occasionally enjoy a Sugar Free chocolate from Russel Stover's, but I have noticed that shortly after I will have sores on my tongue. Like little paper cuts. It is really irritating. I'm pretty sure its something with the ingredients (DUH), but I'm not sure what it could be. Has anyone else experienced this? Does anyone know why this might happen? I appreciate any feedback! Thanks! — wiggie34 (posted on April 6, 2003)

Yes, Yes, Yes and Yes, I have problems eating the good S/F chocolates, and
also movie or microwave popcorn. I am pre-op, but only lately have I really
noticed that those things make me have little sores inside my mouth. I
think it is the oil that they use, it is a soy oil, or lard based oil. I
asked my doctor about it and he thought it was because of one of my
medications. Not all S/F chocolate candies make me break out, I am also
very allergic to laytex. Hope this helps

It can be very possible an ingredient is doing this in the sugar-free
candies, Christine. But this also happened to me when I ate regular candy,
just felt like it burned or was sore. Sometimes if you eat too much of it
this can happen. Not exactly sure, so maybe you should just stay away from
it for now. Goodluck to you!
