Question:
Weight Lifting and Saggy Skin
This question is for those persons lifting weights regularly or at least more than 5 months. Have you noticed any results on the reduction of extra skin around the stomach when working out with weights? Also, any of the women found that lifting weights has helped with the way your breasts look (not as saggy)? I haven't had surgery but I know these will be my two major problem areas. Back in the day, I was able to reshape my body (and kept my curves) using a 4-day weight traning routine with some cardio. I went from a full C cup to a regular B cup. I know the chances of that happening now are close to impossible but would prefer using weights than plastic surgery. From my experience, weight training has given me the best results in sculpting/reshaping my figure. — Oneida H. (posted on February 28, 2003)

I agree with you on the benifits of weightlifting, I am pre-op so I do not
know if lifting will have any results on saggy skin, but I have been going
to the gym and lifting faithfully. I figure it sure can't hurt and it might
just help...sandi tyabat 3/14/03 (2 weeks to go!!!)

Hi there. I am almost 6 months post op and I work out six days per week,
alternating upper and lower body weight training, daily cardio and daily ab
work--lots of crunches. I have noticed, since beginning to work hard on my
abs, that my tummy has firmed up suprisingly well. My lower belly is still
a little bit saggy, but considering I've had two big baby pregnancies, one
c-section and was morbidly obese I guess that's to be expected to a degree.
My upper abs are really beginning to look defined, I may even have a bit of
a six pack before long! I think that weight training is definately a
positive thing, helping to tone and sculpt the body, including the chest,
but it hasn't helped my breasts, or what's left of them, at all.

I have been an avid weight lifter for 8 years now, even though I have
always remained overweight. I am just 3 weeks post-op and have started to
work-out again, and I think that it is doing a world of difference for the
saggy skin. I also believe though it depends on how long the skin has been
sagging? If you have been overweight for a long period of time, then don't
expect weight lifting to take care of everything. The good news is that you
benefit in so many weighs by lifting weights, not to mention it speeds up
your weight loss big time, but it also creates an awesome foundation for
when/if you decide to have a tummy tuck or an arm reduction.
