Question:
Has anyone had any luck with Cigna PPO and getting a TT approval?
Our insurance recently changed to Cigna PPO and we have yet to receive new books telling us what is covered and not and what the guidelines are. Has anyone had any luck getting any type of plastic surgery approval through Cigna? Thanks! — Lynda T. (posted on February 27, 2003)

Yes, I have Cigna PPO. It takes a while to get stuff approved and it has
to be medically necessary. I got approved and had my surgery on 2/19. So
far no problems with Cigna. It took me over a month to get approved
though.

Even though CIGNA is a nationwide company, policies and benefits will vary
from employer to employer and state to state. My CIGNA PPO approved my
panniculectomy and brachioplasty (armlift) surgery within three weeks of
receiving my plastic surgeon's letter of medical necessity and
photographs...no questions asked...no additional consultations or medical
documentation required. They had also approved my lap RNY in the same
timely and uncomplicated manner three years ago. They were wonderful to
work with in each instance, and I wish you the same great experience!
