Question:
Need advice to jump start loss again
I'm 7 months post op and have lost 105 pounds so far. Now I'm stuck! I currently weigh 172 and I'm 5'5" tall. I work out a minimum of three times a week, usually make it four and try to do five. I do cardio and weight training. I have to admit that I have been eating more carbs lately but I have recognized this and I'm changing those habits - again. I have 32 pounds to my goal. I just need to hear from somebody out there who has made it. How do I jump start this loss again? It's so hard when it's been going so fast and all of a sudden almost stops. It's scary really. I just need a little encouragement from those who have been there. Thanks a million! — Tiffany S. (posted on February 26, 2003)

Tiff, I don't have an answer, but, I wanted to let you know I could have
written your post, I am 6 mos, down 95lbs, 60 to goal and have been eating
more, and more carbs. I also work out 5X week and do cardio and weights.
I am anxious to hear others input. Good Luck to you. Heather (Open RNY

Congrats on your weight loss. I completely understand where you are coming
from Tiffany, as we get further post-op, it gets harder to lose weight.
I've lost almost 110lbs. in 9 months and am 10 away from my goal of being
130#. My gym membership, doing cardio and lifting weights, has really
jumped my weight loss. Since you are already doing that, bear in mind that
you are lifting, so your muscle is taking the place of some of your fat.
Muscle weighs more than fat, so that can be a reason for slower loss or
plateaus. It's great that you are trying to lower your carbs, also try
upping your protein. That is like the mantra of losing more weight. Even if
you can eat 5-10 grams more protein a day, i think you will see a
difference. Also- make sure to get alot of water in everyday! Goodluck to
you :)

To jump start a plateau that I was on I went back on liquids for three days
then the next three days soft foods a week later I had a two lb. loss.
