Question:
What is H Pylori? Why Can't you have surgery unless it's cleared up? and what causes
I'm scheduled for my pre op test 3 days before my surgery date and I don't want any thing to happen that will cause my surgeon to have to reschedule, so is it any symptoms or can any one tell me what causes this infection and what meds do I need to take to kill the bacteria before my pre-opt test-just in case I may have it??? — FREIDA P. Howdy. Yes, I had H-pylori a while back. It is just a stomach infection,
but it can be dangerous. Your Dr should do a blood test to find out if you
have it. It is treated with an onslaught of antibiotics, and a stomach
nuetralizer. Such as Prevacid, and such. It will take about 2 weeks to get
rid of it. However, once you have it, a blood test will always test
positive for it. So, subsequent testing has to be urine.....and I think
there is another way. You can look it up on www.WebMD.com Good luck. Hope
it all works out for you.

Hi, My daughter tested positive for H-Pylori and I was told that because of
the positive test, that she had an ulcer. I have had other doctors tell me
that they can test for an ulcer using the h-pylori. Don't know if this
helps. Good luck!!

H Pylori is basiclly a type of bacteria. It is believed to be responsible
for most peptic ulcers. Not everyone infected with this gets ulcers and
nobody really knows how we get it. It basically weakens your stomach's
"coating" and in turn lets acid get through to your stomach's
lining which produces your sore or ulcer. You can take an antibiotic such
as tetracycline or amoxicillin. You also need to take something like
famotidine or lansoprazole to block the acid. Just look for the normal
signs of an ulcer.
